Calculator

Pallets per container calculator.

In a single tier, a 20′ container holds about 11 EUR pallets or 9 industrial pallets; a 40′ or 40′ HC, about 23–25 EUR pallets or 20–21 industrial pallets. It depends on the clearance and on how they are placed.

Reference table

In a single tier. Calculated with the shipping lines’ interior dimensions (Hapag-Lloyd, Maersk) and the pallet dimensions of EN 13698-1 and ISO 6780; the real figure depends on the clearance, the door and the load:

Figures as a guide, in a single tier; the real number depends on the clearance, the door and the load.

Why these figures vary and when weight limits you before space does, in how many pallets fit in a 20ft and a 40ft container.

What this calculator does not check

The figures are a guide; they depend on the clearance, the door and the load. It does not check the weight, whether the pallets can be stacked or how to secure them. The dimensions of each container are in Equipment.

Questions about pallets and containers

What if I stack them?

If the pallets can take a load on top and the height allows it, you can double the figure. But weight decides: the container’s payload and what each pallet can bear usually run out before the space does.

And in a 40′ HC?

The same as in a standard 40′: it has the same floor. The High Cube gains height, not floor space.

How much weight can I load?

It depends on the container: about 28,100–30,200 kg in a 20′ and 26,500–28,800 kg in a 40′. The exact figure is on your container’s CSC plate. More detail on their sheets: 20ft container and 40ft container
