Shipping containers
20ft reefer container: dimensions and capacity.
The 20ft reefer container (20′ Reefer) has its own refrigeration unit: outside it measures the same as a standard 20ft container, but the insulation leaves an interior of about 5.45 × 2.29 × 2.26 m and about 28 m³. It takes approx. 27,400–29,100 kg of cargo, depending on its maximum gross mass (30,480–32,000 kg), and runs at sub-zero temperatures.

What it is used for
It carries temperature-controlled goods (fruit, meat, fish, pharmaceuticals). The cargo is stowed wall to wall without blocking the air return, so that the cold air can circulate.
